Many people hear about gay rights on the news and about how unfair things are but they just listen and go "awe" then flip the channel or page and don't pay much attention to it. Gay rights is turning into a bigger and bigger deal as time progresses. Many of the issues that we had during the civil rights movement are now problems but not for race it's because of sexuality or preference. Instead of people taking a step forward people are taking a step backward and we are repeating what happened not that long ago. Gay rights is an issue that doesn't allow people who are different to have the same rights as any other human being, their unalienable rights are being taken away from them and denied the right to take action against it. First off with the making of my picture started with the picture itself I wanted a picture with no real emotion so that the surroundings would have a bigger impact on the picture itself. I used a paintbrush to kind of show how easily we can relate to people we don't even know with as simple a thing as a brush stroke. Next is used the rectangle marquee to make a shape on my face about the size of the paintbrush and used the gradient tool to create a rainbow color across my face. Then I used a layer mask to trim up the edges so it didn't look so blocky. the next thing I did was I looked for a flower, more specifically a rose that was rainbow colored so that I could use it as a background for my picture. The black and white picture of myself helps to contrast against the rainbow color of the "paint" and the rose in the picture. Altogether I believe this piece has come together quite well and shows a strong message about what my social issue was. These pictures are pictures I used as well as first iterations of the final project. I have used these pictures because I felt as though they give the biggest impact when they are looked at. They each show off a different feel and a different type of appearance to the work.
